Service Provider Details

Why did you choose the service/institution you chose?

We chose the Roscoff Culture Collection for our visit because this facility has all the necessary equipment, culture rooms and incubators for the isolation and cultivation of Ulvophyceae. In addition, the coastline of Roscoff and the offshore island of Ile de Batz are ideal habitats for collecting and isolating new strains for research purposes.

How did this access experience support your research?

We achieved all the goals of the planned project and received all the necessary support for our research. We were able to isolate new strains for our current and future research. We would like to collaborate with the Roscoff Culture Collection in the future.

How does your project benefit society, industry, or policy?

For a new project, we will isolate new strains of species that are not available in public culture collections. We will then write a grant proposal to secure funding for this future project. These newly isolated strains will then be deposited in public culture collections, such as the Roscoff Culture Collection (RCC). Additionally, we have conducted a taxonomic revision of some ulvophycean strains held at the RCC.

How did this experience mark your scientific career?

Thanks to the experience gained from our project, we will be well-placed to start a new research project if we secure funding. We have also learned new isolation and cultivation methods that will benefit us in future projects.

Please share some words of encouragement to future users.

We encourage future users to submit their projects. These projects should be discussed in detail with the host institution. If the planned project fits the host's research profile, new research collaborations can be established.
