Projects

What kind of project are we looking for?

For this call, we welcomed innovative research projects that should last up to 3 months and address one or more of the following topics:

New low-trophic species for aquaculture;

New and improved sustainable feed production technologies;

Managing pathogens, parasites, and health risks in aquaculture;

Quality and safety of aquaculture products;

Managing aquaculture waste;

Aquaculture sustainability topics that contribute to the Farm to Fork strategy.

Why Sustainable Aquaculture?

Europe’s food systems are undergoing major transformation to become fairer, healthier, and more environmentally friendly, as envisioned in the Farm to Fork Strategy at the core of the European Green Deal.

At the same time, increasing human activities at sea — driven by the EU’s Blue Growth agenda and the rising demand for ocean-derived food — intensify cumulative pressures on marine environments. With wild stocks under strain, sustainable aquaculture has emerged as a critical pillar for future food security.
